I'm running because I believe every young person in Houston deserves a real path to a stable, fulfilling career. That is why I am championing Project HOPE: Houston Opportunities for Permanent Employment. My goal is to work with the mayor and city council to launch a city-run pilot program that guarantees jobs for our youth aged 18 to 24. By partnering with local employers, colleges, and nonprofits, we can build a strong pipeline from apprenticeships to high-demand careers. Together, we will leverage state, federal, and city grants to cover wages, fund tuition-free training, and provide the wrap-around services our young people need to succeed. This is about investing in community projects, upgrading our local infrastructure, and building a stronger future for all of us.
I believe that if you want to work and build a career, Houston should help you get there. That is why I am championing Project HOPE, which stands for Houston Opportunities for Permanent Employment. This city-led pilot program will guarantee young Houstonians ages 18 to 24 a clear pathway into paid work, training, and permanent jobs. I will work closely with the Mayor, City Council, employers, nonprofits, community colleges, universities, labor groups, and certificate programs to build a Pre-Apprenticeship-to-Apprenticeship pipeline in high-demand occupations. We will connect workforce training to degree plans and use federal and state grants, work-study, and development funding to help cover wages, tuition, transportation, and support services. Let's build this pathway together.
District B families should never be priced out of the neighborhoods they call home. I believe that everyone who makes our community what it is deserves a stable place to live. That is why I will advocate to expand affordable housing, preserve our existing affordable homes, and support first-time homebuyers. By using public resources to increase housing stability, we can make sure our working families, seniors, young adults, and vulnerable residents are able to remain right here in their communities. I am committed to supporting policies that expand opportunities for both affordable homeownership and quality rental housing. Together, we can keep our neighborhoods strong, stable, and accessible for everyone.
Every neighborhood deserves safe streets, reliable drainage, functioning infrastructure, and investment from City Hall. I will push for stronger neighborhood infrastructure programs focused on drainage, flooding, streets, sidewalks, lighting, parks, and other basic services. District B should not have to wait for a crisis before receiving infrastructure investment. I will support transparent, data-driven infrastructure planning that prioritizes areas with the greatest need.
Public safety means more than policing. It means preventing violence before it happens and creating neighborhoods where people have stable housing, employment, education, mental-health resources, youth programs, and safe public spaces. I will support community-based violence prevention, youth employment, neighborhood programs, effective emergency services, and responsible investments in public safety while working with residents and first responders to identify what actually makes District B safer.
No Houston neighborhood should be treated as a dumping ground or left behind when it comes to environmental protection. I will advocate for cleaning up contaminated properties, improving air and water quality, expanding tree canopy and green spaces, and investing in climate-resilient infrastructure. District B deserves a Houston that protects residents from pollution and extreme weather while creating good-paying jobs through environmental cleanup, infrastructure, and clean-energy projects.
Transportation is economic opportunity. If residents cannot reliably reach a job, school, medical appointment, or training program, opportunity is out of reach. I will advocate for better transit connections, safer pedestrian infrastructure, sidewalks, bike infrastructure where appropriate, and transportation options that connect District B residents to employment centers, colleges, universities, training programs, and essential services.
When the City of Houston invests in our infrastructure, construction, technology, public facilities, and neighborhood improvements, I believe our residents should be the ones who benefit. That is why I am advocating for a Houston Municipal Jobs and Apprenticeship Pipeline. I will push for stronger local hiring, apprenticeship, pre-apprenticeship, and workforce-development requirements on all city-funded projects. By using our city’s purchasing power, we can create real, lasting pathways into the middle class. Whether we are launching environmental projects or upgrading our public spaces, our community deserves a meaningful opportunity to participate in that economic growth. I want to make sure our city's investments are directly supporting our local workers and families.
Young people deserve more than programs that tell them to wait for their opportunity. I will work to expand paid internships, apprenticeships, summer employment, career exploration, mentorship, entrepreneurship programs, and educational pathways for District B youth. Project HOPE would be part of a larger strategy to make Houston a city where young adults can transition from education into meaningful careers without being trapped by unpaid opportunities or unnecessary barriers.
Residents should have a meaningful voice in decisions affecting their neighborhoods. I will support stronger community engagement, neighborhood advisory structures, participatory planning, and greater transparency around city spending and projects. My approach to City Hall will be listen first, organize with residents, use data, and deliver results. District B residents should not have to know someone at City Hall to get their concerns heard.
I believe Houston’s economy should work for the people who actually live here. To make that happen, I will champion our local small businesses, worker-owned cooperatives, minority-owned enterprises, nonprofits, and community-based organizations. These are the groups that create real local jobs and keep wealth right here in our neighborhoods. For too long, we’ve measured economic success solely by the amount of outside investment we attract. I want to change that. I believe we must measure economic development by how it actually improves our lives—through higher wages, better jobs, strong career opportunities, affordable housing, and a real ability for everyday residents to build wealth. Let's work together to build a local economy that truly lifts up everyone in our community.
